with so many of my students and aspiring singers emailing me and asking me for tips on the upcoming campus superstar auditions, i decided to write a brief entry about it..

gone are the days where
1) you have talent, and no looks and you still become famous
OR
2) you have all looks, but no talent whatsoever, and you still become famous..

in the current music industry, both are needed... (though talent is still more impt)
well, you don't have to be drop dead gorgeous, or project male masculinity (coz looks can be modified, thru various methods (not only plastic surgery) )
so i always tell my students, join the contest to know where you stand..

can you really sing?
is singing well enough?
no it isn't.. coz u've got to know how to sing on stage as well... how to interact with the audience, how not to have stage fright, how not to tense up at the crucial moment...

so with auditions coming up, look out for de following
1) your looks. i know you will be wearing your school uniform, but take careful attention to comb your hair, to shave (for guys), to look presentable

2) your choice of song. dont sing a song you like, sing a song that can fully express and show off your vocal abilities...

3) your character on stage... if you're reserved and shy during auditions, you probably wont make it far... why? coz you need to have a certain personality on stage...
